Favorite piece of fruit: The Casado men have definite opinions on their favorite fruits. Andrew Sr. likes Crimson Star plum, which he says have a "very friendly and agreeable taste." Lawrence and Andrew Jr. both like Santa Rosa plums because of their enticing aroma and sweet flavor. Andrew Jr. especially likes his wife's Plum Sorbet and Plum Salsa.

Number of years in business: A grower of California peaches, plums and nectarines since 1972, Cal-West Packing is best known as "The Plum House" for developing a wide variety of high quality, great tasting plums.

The company's pioneering spirit shows in many ways. For example, Andrew Sr. is the first Mexican-American to enter the tree fruit industry as an owner of a vertically integrated farming company. In 2001, Cal-West became one of the first farming operations to offer labor contracting services. And Cal-West is also proud to be a major sponsor of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, for which Lawrence has served on the board of directors and helped raise over a half-million dollars.
